Since 1994, Genbukan Makoto Dojo has been providing instruction in the martial arts in the Lakewood, OH area.

We hope you enjoy our website and will stop by and visit us if you are in the area. This site is designed to give you information about our facility, our style of martial arts, our staff and provide you with information on how to contact us as well.

What Makes Us Different?

At the Genbukan Makoto Dojo, we pride ourselves on providing expert instruction in a large variety of authentic martial traditions. You will be very hard pressed in finding another school with the variety of programs offered here at Genbukan Makoto Dojo.

We offer expert instruction in the world's only surviving lineage of Ninja martial arts Genbukan Ninpo Bugei and we are the ONLY school in the state of Ohio teaching these arts!

We also offer instruction in authentic traditional Japanese Jujutsu. The art used and made famous by Japan's elite warriors, the Samurai.

Beyond these, courses offered include Koryu Karate which is the ORIGINAL Japanese Karate predating modern Karate. Goshinjutsu, the most effective self defense from all the arts we teach. Chinese "internal" martial arts of Ba Kua and Chi Gung as well as Chin na (Chinese grappling)Submission Grappling and Combat Kick-boxing.

If you are interested in weapons training, we offer complete courses on traditional Japanese Ninja/Samurai sword arts Bikenjutsu, Authentic Samurai staff fighting Bojutsu as well as a great variety of traditional Ninja/Samurai weapons and their modern counter parts
